Are stablecoins halal?

Answered by the ShariaQuant team

Most stablecoins pay you nothing, so Muslims assume they are safe, and the real problem is somewhere else. It is that the issuer can freeze your balance, which means what you hold is a permission rather than outright ownership. Reserve quality and freeze powers vary a lot between issuers.

Every stablecoin ranked by Shariah compliance

This is Shariah screening and education, not financial advice. Rulings on newer products differ between scholars, so where a question is disputed we say so rather than pick a side for you. If your situation is unusual, ask your own scholar.
