What kind of trading is halal?
Answered by the ShariaQuant team
Trading where you own what you buy, the trade settles on the spot, no borrowed money is involved, and the asset itself passes screening. That covers buying and selling on spot whether you hold for minutes, weeks or years, because the length of the hold was never what decided it. Futures, options, CFDs, margin and short selling each fail at least one of those conditions.
The three conditions, explainedThis is Shariah screening and education, not financial advice. Rulings on newer products differ between scholars, so where a question is disputed we say so rather than pick a side for you. If your situation is unusual, ask your own scholar.
