The WORLD Token and the Airdrop
ShariaQuant Team
No. World.xyz is haram. It's a prediction market, so every position on it is a bet, and the "airdrop" that crashed its website this month paid you to place one. The WORLD token on Pump.fun isn't even theirs.
World sits inside Phantom, a wallet a lot of you already have on your phone, so it's worth knowing exactly why.
What World.xyz is
World is an onchain prediction market on Solana. Phantom ran its prediction markets on Kalshi from December 2025, then moved every position opened from 1 June 2026 onto World. On 9 September World opened its own site to a waitlist it says was more than a million people long.
You can bet on every NFL regular-season game, seven soccer leagues, Formula 1, the 2026 US midterms and the Federal Reserve's next rate decision. Yes, an interest rate.
Each market is a yes-or-no question. You buy a YES or a NO token for between $0 and $1. When the event resolves, the winning side pays 1 CASH per token and the losing side pays nothing, per World's FAQ. CASH is Phantom's dollar stablecoin. The protocol belongs to a Cayman Islands foundation, and World hasn't named its founders.
Is World.xyz halal? Follow the money
World's Terms of Service say your money goes into a "Collateral Pool" behind each market, and every payout on a winning token comes "solely" from that pool.
So the losers' money pays the winners. Nothing is made and nothing is sold. That's maysir (gambling), which Allah names in Surah al-Ma'idah 5:90 among the things the believers must avoid. Both sides stake, neither controls the outcome, and one side's gain is exactly the other side's loss.
World's own marketing says as much. On 17 September its X account posted that a $5,000 trade on the Lions pays out $15,000. Swap "trade" for "bet" and you have a bookmaker's advert.
I've made the full case against prediction markets in a separate piece, and Polymarket and Kalshi both come back Haram on our screen. World is the same contract in a friendlier app.
To be fair to World, it has no leverage and no funding rate, so there's no riba in it. That doesn't save it. A contract only has to fail one prohibition.
"But it's skill, not chance"
That's the defence. Phantom says it doesn't offer gambling or games of chance, and World's FAQ tells football fans they already have much of what it takes. Knowing the game does help.
But the fiqh never asked whether a contest takes skill. It asked who pays the prize. In the chapter on races and archery contests (sabaq), the jurists allowed prizes on pure tests of skill when a third party put the prize up. When both competitors staked and the winner took both stakes, they called it qimar, gambling, even between the two best archers alive.
On World, every payout comes out of the other side's stake. Nobody outside the contest is paying a prize.
The airdrop was a payment for a bet World's pinned post on launch day listed the steps: create your account, connect to X, place a trade, surprise. The surprise was CASH. KuCoin reported users receiving $378 and talk of a ceiling around $500, and so many people turned up that the site went down.
Our airdrop framework treats tokens that land for nothing as a gift (hiba), and payment for a named set of tasks as a reward for work (ju'alah). This was the second, and a reward takes the ruling of the work it pays for. The last task was placing a bet.
No bet, no reward.
The WORLD token isn't World's
The coin called world.xyz (WORLD) on Solana was launched on Pump.fun in June 2026, before World had shown anyone a product. World's team confirmed it has no link to the coin, BeInCrypto reported, and Phantom marks it unverified. When I checked on 19 September it was worth about $344,000.
There's nothing to screen. It has no team and no product, and what it sells is a borrowed name. If World ever launches a real token, it'll be the token of a gambling protocol, and that doesn't turn halal because it was handed out for free.
If you already used it
Close any open positions and take whatever the outcome is. Give away the whole reward and anything you won above your stake. Our purification guide covers how, and you earn no reward for giving it, because it was never lawfully yours. The money you put in yourself is still yours.
You don't need to delete Phantom. Leave the Predict tab alone.
Why I'm writing this for you
World blocks 35 countries and territories, including the US, the UK, France, Germany and Australia. Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the UAE aren't on the list, and there's no KYC.
So in London the door is shut. In Karachi, Jakarta or Istanbul it's open, it's in the wallet on your phone, and it has already paid people to walk through it.
I don't know who built World. Nobody does, publicly. But I know what their contract is, because they wrote it down.
