Is AltLayer (ALT) halal or haram?
Not screened yet
We have not run our Shariah screening on AltLayer yet, so we are not giving a ruling on this page. What is below is what we have gathered and checked ourselves, without any AI: where the coin lives, its supply, what its own blockchain says about who can freeze or create coins, and the project's own documents.
What it is
AltLayer is a decentralized protocol that facilitates the launch of native and restaked rollups with both optimistic and zk rollup stacks.
The basics
- Where it lives
- token on ethereum (also on binance-smart-chain)
- Circulating supply
- 7,126,388,885 ALT
- Maximum supply
- 10,000,000,000 ALT
- Category
- Smart Contract Platform, BNB Chain Ecosystem, Binance Launchpool
What it runs, and where its revenue goes
Per DefiLlama on 2026-09-22, AltLayer runs one product line: AltLayer (Developer Tools).
DefiLlama does not track revenue to token holders for AltLayer.
Figures from DefiLlama. Whether any of this income is permissible is part of our screening.
Who controls the coins
Read from the token's verified contract on Ethereum (0x8457ca5040ad67fdebbcc8edce889a335bc0fbfb) on 2026-09-22: pause lets a 2-of-3 multisig wallet (0x12a6…b1c0) halt every holder's transfers at once, and no function in the contract can act on a single holder. It also has mint (capped, held by a 2-of-3 multisig wallet (0x12a6…b1c0)); what these allow is checked at screening. It is not upgradeable.
Whether anyone can freeze a holder's balance, or create new coins, is part of our screening. This much is read straight from the blockchain, so it is already established before any screening runs.
