Is Cap USD (CUSD) halal or haram?
Not screened yet
We have not run our Shariah screening on Cap USD yet, so we are not giving a ruling on this page. What is below is what we have gathered and checked ourselves, without any AI: where the coin lives, its supply, what its own blockchain says about who can freeze or create coins, and the project's own documents.
What it is
Cap is a stablecoin protocol that provides credible financial guarantees via two products: the dollar-denominated cUSD and the yield-bearing stcUSD. cUSD is a digital dollar issued on the Ethereum blockchain that can be used on any network. cUSD's reserve is backed by blue chip stablecoins such as USDC, USDT,…

Who controls the coins
Read from the token's verified contract on Ethereum (0xcccc62962d17b8914c62d74ffb843d73b2a3cccc) on 2026-09-23: it has mint (capped, held by an account we could not identify), burn (held by an account we could not identify); what these allow is checked at screening. Its code can be replaced by whoever holds the upgrade power.
Whether anyone can freeze a holder's balance, or create new coins, is part of our screening. This much is read straight from the blockchain, so it is already established before any screening runs.
