SoFiUSD

Is SoFiUSD (SOFID) halal or haram?

Not screened yet

We have not run our Shariah screening on SoFiUSD yet, so we are not giving a ruling on this page. What is below is what we have gathered and checked ourselves, without any AI: where the coin lives, its supply, what its own blockchain says about who can freeze or create coins, and the project's own documents.

Screen SOFID now Runs our full screening and publishes the verdict on this page.

What it is

SoFiUSD is a fully reserved U.S. dollar stablecoin issued by SoFi Bank, N.A., making SoFi the first national bank to launch a stablecoin on a public, permissionless blockchain.

Who controls the coins

Read from the token's verified contract on Ethereum (0x0cb6d03b0ac88a463f67b7ad99f9f3ec4678092e) on 2026-09-19: it has mint (capped, held by an account we could not identify), mintBatch (capped, held by an account we could not identify), pause (held by an account we could not identify); what these allow is checked at screening. Its code can be replaced by whoever holds the upgrade power.

Whether anyone can freeze a holder's balance, or create new coins, is part of our screening. This much is read straight from the blockchain, so it is already established before any screening runs.
