Zakat and purification

Do I pay zakat on tokens I received from an airdrop?

Answered by the ShariaQuant team

Yes, once they are yours and claimable. A gift you own is wealth you own, so it joins the rest of your zakatable assets at market value on your zakat date. Tokens still sitting unclaimed with no confirmed allocation are a different matter.

Zakat on staked, locked and airdropped tokens

This is Shariah screening and education, not financial advice. Rulings on newer products differ between scholars, so where a question is disputed we say so rather than pick a side for you. If your situation is unusual, ask your own scholar.
